www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g659630-d288788-r132140428-Carda_Beach_Hotel-Kardamena_Kos_Dodecanese.html#REVIEWSGood Points: Great Hotel, Great food, Great All-round. Would go again but only if looking to relax as there’s not much to do (my parents would like it). Bad points: No Internet unless you sit in reception. No entertainment (but then again it’s always pants on holiday). Long walk to Bar Street which is now a bit of a ghost town. Knocking a star off because of lack of internet and also if your not a stickler for feeding times there’s nothing to get in-between meals if you’ve missed a slot. We arrived about 10pm after a flight with extra leg room (we didn't pay for it, only paid the £15 to sit together which is a bit of a con but turned out well). The Thomas cook rep that met us (think he was called Paul) was the most miserable rep we had ever encountered he proceeded to drop people off at their hotels, but almost all the others were at the far end of the island meaning we had to double back on ourselves making the bus ride a bit longer than would have hoped for. We then checked in at the hotel who because we had missed dinner had plated us up a bit of salad and sat us in an un-lit area of the restaurant so was difficult to see what we were eating (not sure why it was like that as the rest of the stay was fine). We were given a timetable of restaurant / bar opening times - the bar closes at 11pm for all inclusive and you have to pay for anything else after that. We found the choose of drinks more than enough for an all inclusive, people that moan on here that there's not enough choose need to stop booming AI. the young lasses serving we're friendly always smiling, but the blokes ever cracked a smile (however the staff over the road at the other hotel were all allot more friendly). It was. Ever more than a couple of minutes wait at the bar, the only time we struggled was on "romance night" where some crappy band was in and singing all night and that was it as far as entertainment went. It was difficult to get served that night because the bar has stools all way round it and stupid people decided to sit there drinking not making room for anyone else to get served. We were given a combination for the safe in our room, however the safe we had required a key, we explained to reception we needed a key, but they just laughed and told us we were not following the instructions properly. They did send the maintenance guy the next morning who had bunch of keys but didn't look like he could get any to work, he didn't speak any English but said something about returning at 3pm so back we went to our room for 3pm but no one showed so we were without a safe all week which wasn't a major problem as the resort was fairly safe there wasn't any random people off the street walking around and we were on the second floor so no one could get in through the balcony (we had sort of a view of the sea, but was blocked by trees, I think we had paid £60 for a better room, but didn't seem to be worth it). The fridge was re-filled most days even with a couple of bottles of beer and the tea/coffee too. The room was spot on, except the bed was much too hard for me. Air conditioning worked, but all the electric went off when taking the room key out (at least the fridge stayed on, unlike turkey last year when taking the key out the fridge didn't work!). The shows was a walk in wet room thing with glass frosted panels which was novel to see who your sharing with shower, the toilet door was frosted glass too, you couldn't see through it only hear want was going on in there. No noise from next door room above or anywhere else so got plenty of sleep and were women by the maids most mornings. We only made it to breakfast twice once on the first day when we had to get up to see Andy the rep on our welcome meeting which was a waste of time, he just kept telling us to rate him excellent so be could spend the winter repping in Barbados! We didn't book any excursions as the only one we really liked the look of was on the day we were flying home. We did book a 4 island boat trip from one of the kiosks on the square (ok if you want to sit on a boat all day) you had to pay for drinks, but we're fed a BBQ consisting of a frank ferret sausage (had already eaten several for breakfast). The Italian in the hotel is worth booking, too much food though! The Chinese was good too, however service was slow, but then again what do you want from an AI? Dam good I think!

Water Park. ( Trip Advisor) The Lido was one of the smallest water parks I have ever been to. It catered for kids I'd say baby's to about 12 year old. The best ride was the Lazy river which consisted of tubes going round a loop with the odd waterfall splashing you, but no rapids or anything exciting. The other slides were just as boring, I didn't bother going on some as the floor was too hot to walk on to get to the ride. There was a sort of zoo thing going on, just a couple of donkeys (poor conditions, one of them was chained up, and couldn't get in the shade) there were several other cages with different birds in them from turkeys to peacocks, no signs or anything to say what was supposed to be in some of the enclosures. Saying the above it was actually a good day out as we went on a Monday and didn't have to queue for anything, kept missing the wave pool though and they were obsessed with playing Michael Jackson over their pa system which I can't stand. It didn't cost much to get in (went on one of the excursions you pay for at a kiosk on the square), we did have some food there, think it cost about 30 euros for 2 pizzas, chips and a couple of drinks which was on the steep side but not too bad for somewhere like that. I did enjoy it however wouldn't go again and think I have. Been spoilt by the other water parks I have visited as this one sadly just doesn't cut it.

Loustros ( Trip Advisor) We were staying at the Carda beach hotel - all inclusive so didn't eat out very often but this place was easily the best! We had a meal when we were on our way back from a bit of a bar crawl in the day around kardamena. We were heading to a cafe / bar / restraint whatever they want to be known as called captains as it had been reccome des by the Thomas cook rep (they all look more or less the same it's hard to work out which is a restraint or just a bar but most were both, and as usual you can get every type of food imaginable). Anyway we were stopped by a nice young lady called Kirsty who persuaded us to enter, seeing as she looked so smart we thought why not. The service was brilliant & the beers were cold and the red wine warm (believe it or not was ice cold like most places out there serve it). Sadly they didn't have any bitter a John smiths would have gone down a treat even if it had been out of a can, but nevermind. I had prawn cocktail to start with which was odd as the prawns were still warm and even tasted fresh, not something I'm used to when ordering prawn cocktail. I asked for extra sauce on it as some places don't give you much, but don't think I should have bothered as the glass was overflowing, could have done with more salad and perhaps a bit of bread but was nice enough. My partner had muscles I think which she said were nice. We both had sirloin steak, mine was medium and bang on, the girlfriend wanted it blue which came out too cooked for her, but it always is no matter where we go. The steak still had bone on it which I don't usually get when having sirloin and wasn't too fatty. Can't remember what size it was but it was a decent chunk. Me or the girlfriend wern't sure about the side salad - strips of carrot which looked like it had been out too long (but it always looks a funny colour abroad). They did serve sauces and my peppercorn sauce was great. There were a few hand cooked chips neatly stacked (which I thought a the start could have done with a few more but was stuffed after the meal and couldn't even think about dessert. We then had to go find our sun lingers to sleep it off! Would definatehly go back to this one out of all the places to choose from to eat.

Ta Adelfia ( Trip Advisor) We were recommended this one by friends who had been before, they gave us directions but wasn’t were they said but was the right name so decided to go in. I had a prawn cocktail to start with which was ok but nothing special, then had chicken breast in a garlic sauce, sadly the garlic sauce was too garlicky for me but the chicken was grilled lovely and the portion sizes were huge. Can't remember what it cost me, but it wasn't bad. The waiter was really friendly and no one dragged us in off the street for just looking at the menu. Overall nothing fancy but not bad either would go again.

Alexanders We went for a wander down to the end of kardamena harbour and had basically ran out of places for a bit to eat as they all looked the same. Anyway we were looking at the menus and a guy who worked there - must have been greek asked what we were fancying, I told him pizza and he said he cooked the best home made pizza on the island. It wasn't bad to tell the truth, the girlfriend had one too and a couple of beers came to about 20 euros which was exceptional value for money including a free beer just before we left. The guy looking after us was really friendly and chatty and I liked the line "this is my office I work in and look at the terrible view I see everyday". Yeah it might be poor pay and long hour but he's right and I would love to swap him. If you are hungry it's well worth a visit.
