Hi. About 6 month's ago I had some gear nicked out of the garage. Now I can't be certain, but from the pictures on ebay it looks like my stuff and isn't far from me either.
Im going to win the bid (as I need a spare one anyway). So just wondering how to go about it when I go to collect it? Can I get the plod to come with me - just incase it's mine? I can't however prove it's my stuff as I didn't write the serial number down or have any pictures. (I think I have a photo of the case).
What do you reckon - don't want to have to pay for something that was stolen from me!
The only things I have to prove it's mine is are a few pictures... Yes I have a crime number etc... So can I just get the guys address - phone the police and say "I know where my stolen goods are"? Thanks
**I've had a few reply's to the message forum post's below**
Looks like I've got no chance of getting the police to do anything as I don't have enough proof the stuff is mine. However when I win the auction on ebay it will show the seller my address and if it's the people that stole it initially (and not been sold onto them), then they might click on who I am. So I'm wondering if I should borrow someome else's ebay account / set up a fake one? Then Im thinking when I go round to "pay for it" I can just put it in the car and drive off? Might need to take a couple of the lads with me? What do you reckon?

I've been told the following "OP,you need to use the report button on the side of the listing then contact your local police station and tell them you believe stolen items are being sold on ebay this will get the listings removed and prevent there sale through ebay
print all the listings that you believe to be your items so the police will have a hard copy when you give your statement (which you will have to do)
good luck OP "
However if I got the item removed from ebay that would be no help to me....

The police said if I could get an address they would go round. So they told me to message the seller to see what I could get from them. No reply as yet... Then police called me back saying if I hadn't heard anything by bed time that night to report it as stolen goods to ebay - I said where would that leave me, will probably never hear anything else about it. They said I was right, and to leave it up to ebay. Just clicked the "Report item" button , and all it says is: You have successfully submitted a report. We appreciate you taking the time to file this report. eBay will investigate to determine the resolution. So very glad I didn't take the police's advice in the first instance. Anyway. I did take their other advise and get the sellers address - I managed that by asking the seller how much they would accept for it and to do the deal outside ebay. So the next day they called me up and agreed to meet me, I phoned the police who said if I could ID the propertly they would meet me at the address. So off I went on my dinner break. The police now have my mixer, I've now got to give a statement and somehow prove it's mine. But looking good so far.... Here's the listing if you want to have a look: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260547768328Seller info joebunker9

I've been to the police station today and collected my stolen mixer. They said due to lack of evidence they don't have enough to charge him with anything. At least I've got the mixer back. Shame about the other stuff, but Im happy it's back - even though it's been knocked about a bit.
