Have been having problems with the external Hard Drive I store music video's on. So decided to buy a new hard drive for the laptop: 120GB Fujitsu 2.5" IDE 5400rpm Notebook Hard Drive 8MB Cache (MHV2120AH) (XXXXX) £111.66 from www.pcnextday.co.ukFujitsu's new MHV2120AHT 2.5" 9.5mm mobile hard disk drive offers a massive 120GB of capcity at 5400rpm and an increase of almost 30% in areal density. This drive is ideally suited for integration into portable PC's due to its exceptional tolerance to shock and its low power consumption. With its 120GB capacity this product is an invaluable tool for users with advanced sstorage needs. Features: * Read / Write Power Consumption of 2.0W typ / 2.1W typ. * IDLE Power Consumption of 0.65W typ. * Idle Acoustic Noise as low as 2.4Bels * Non-Operating Shock of 8.820m/s2 (900G) (1ms) * Operating Shock of 2,205 m/s2 225G (2ms) * Track to Track Seek Times of 1.5 ms typ. Should now be able to store my most used video's on here and they should play alot smoother with a bit of luck.

Bought another Amilo D. At least I have some spare parts if it breaks down. I still use the Desktop PC for my Mobile disco's as it's more reliable & more powerfull.
But I'm going to keep using the laptop for pub & club gigs (that's if I can get an external hard drive that won't keep going mental).

I get asked all the time why I don't use a laptop for DJing.... Here's the reason why: I might get rond to fixing them one day, but I reckon they are all going to cost more to fix than it is to buy a new one Basically if something on a desktop computer fails you can just replace it - preitty much their and then. For example a drink gets spilt and kills the keyboard a couple of quid from any local PC shop and your in business again. If that happens to the laptop it's preitty much fucked. The same thing with the screen - if the LCD on the laptop decides to give up it's a costly job! But with a desktop just plugg any old screen in and your working again. One other point I like about desktop's are the hard drive sizes - no way could I save all the stuff I use onto a laptop hard drive (I've tried external USB drives, but they just arn't reliable enough).

Well my laptops are all too old and slow to cope, my desktop is on the blink. It's time for an upgrade. Can't decide what to get - laptop's are good for the convenience, however if anything goes wrong I can't fix it out on the job. So might go for a little shuttle machine with a solid state HDD and still use the USB caddy full of music (which reminds me, I need to buy another 3TB caddy to back it all up incase this one fails).
