Eating Out? « Thread Started on Dec 5, 2004, 12:20am »
Fancy eatinbg out? Here's my views on a pubs places I have tried.
Top House, Worksop Very cheap. And food that's sound for what you pay.
Half Moon, Chesterfield Road, Worksop. Not bad.
Parish Oven. Not bad, used to do awsome Pie and Pea night on a Wednesday, but they don't do it anymore
Pickwicks http://pickwicks-restaurant.co.uk/ Just been and had a Sunday Carvery. Not too bad at all. Music was crap and way too loud for a Sunday afternoon. I'm not a Jazz fan. Other than that everything else was fine. Great place to go in the evening with a group of mates for a meal.
The Anchor Inn Eastgate, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, S80 1RF - Tel. 01909 473789 The Anchor do a Carvery on Sundays. They only serve 'til 4pm but for Ģ5 you get a 3 course meal and I was stuffed
The Cannon. Went to the Cannon the other day and had a steak. It was quality!
The Old Bluebell Went for Sunday Carvery. Possibly the worste I have ever had. Everything was cold. sat in a tiny little cramp corner. The only good thing is you have to take your own beer because they don't have a licence.
MaHubbords: One at Edwinstowe that's not bad.
Think it's called The Boat at a place called Ayton (however you spell it), It's near Retford, went ages ago with mum and dad. The carvery was the best I have ever had.
Six Hills Hotel, Leicester: Bit of a treck from Worksop, but would make a change for anyone fancying a ride out. They do a Carvery on Sundays
www.tgifridays.co.uk Never tried it, but I have some Nectar points to use which will get me some money off so might give it a try, there's one in Sheffield opposite Meadowhall.

Live to work, or work to live? I'd go for option 2! If only there was a choice.

Pizza / Take Away:
The Best Pizza I have ever had was from a chippy/pizza place just down the road from Retford swimming baths Well worth a visit.
The last pizza we had delivered from Pizza Hut was naff, so won't be going there again.
Can't remember where we got it from? One night at my sisters house we had some garlic bread, but it had tomato purae on it. Best garlic bread ever. Enjoyed it more than the pizza.
Fancy a Kebab? The only place you should go in Worksop is Topkapi 46 Newcastle Av, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, S80 1LA - Tel. 01909 478684. If your lucky enough to get to Ibiza, there's this one shop tucked away down the west end which does the best kebabs on the plannet. Home made pitta bread Goes down a storm at 5am just about right for breakfast.
Best Chips I have had late at night were from Everest Tandori.
Live to work, or work to live? I'd go for option 2! If only there was a choice.

Indian / Chinese.
I have been to Monsoon and the other indian on Carlton Road. To be honest I'm not a fan of curry's. Bit too hot from me, the tesco ones you can get are just about right for me. But saying that I think Monsoon is the better one.
The Chinese at the top of town is preitty good.
I want to go and try that China Rose at Bawtry, it's supposed to be really expensive, but top class.
Went to Lucchino last night. Wasn't bad. Lucchino, Bridge Court/Bridge Pl, Worksop, S80 1DT 01909 501733

Fish & Chips.
Best Fish and chips I ever had were on Vessey road near valley school, it's no longer a chippy though, think it's a chinese now. Shireoaks chip shop isn't bad. Get loads of chips.
Stay away from Dawsons. You hardly get any chips and what you do get are little shrivelled up crappy things.
Bondhay do fish and cips on Fridays - don't know if they do anymore?
Don't get curry sauce from Barlborough links chippy it's like water.
